Following weeks of an unbearable spinning sensation, heavily impinging on normal life, Mrs Rowlands turned to Mr Patel for urgent help.

75 year old female
Mrs Rowlands had been suffering with vertigo for four months. Each time she turned in bed at night the room starting to spin around her. Mrs Rowlands was regularly sick with the feeling and it left her feeling frightened to leave her home.
Mrs Rowlands initially consulted her GP who had suggested a diagnosis of positional vertigo and offered her anti-sickness medication. However, her symptoms had not changed and she could not bear the wait to attend the ENT NHS clinic. When she met with Mr Patel, he took a full history of the problem and she underwent hearing tests. He then performed balance tests and concluded the diagnosis to be as the GP had suggested.
At the same appointment, Mr Patel then performed an Epley manoeuvre to cure Mrs Rowlands of the dizziness. He asked her to stop the medication and perform balance exercises at home. When she left the clinic she already felt much better.
Two weeks later, Mrs Rowlands returned to clinic to report that following the Epley manoeuvre, she had not had a single further episode of vertigo. She is now back to her happy self and can fully participate in the care of her grandchildren.
